River Hawks basketball team logo
brianmot (99 pencils) | Fri, 2008-01-18 17:57my eyes are always open looking for design of all sorts, consciously or unconsciously. the bad ones stick out like a sore thumb. In one of my weekend excursions i went and saw a PBL (premier basketball league) game in my hometown of rochester NY last saturday. as i was browsing thru the pregame pamphlet i took notice of the team logos. some were really well done while some others looked like they were made in microsoft word. you can check them out at the top of the pbl homepage ( http://www.pblproball.com/ ) anyways, in my spare time this week and need to build a up some work i redid the quad cities riverhawks logo. their old logo is not the worst (chicago throwbacks) but its close enough. check out the banner on their homepage ( http://www.qcriverhawks.com/ ) YUCK. here is my new version.

I love this. Thanks for posting!
Two things: The four downward facing points are very distracting, but I think that's because 2. nothing in this design takes the highest level of importance. I think if you emphasized one thing, be it the basketball, the name, the bird, you'll have a pretty tight logo! Looks a lot like the Philadelphia Eagles logo (NFL) which I also dig.
Great work!

Agree with nato, though though I like the downward points as they echo the talons of a hawk. Making the ball bigger would tend to separate the words River and Hawks so that may not work. I think its pretty dang tight as is. 1000% improvement over old logo.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
Great logo!
I agree that the downward points are distracting though and seems to push my eye down and away. Maybe the outline should be more rounded as compared to the wings for instance.
