shown are the (clockwise from top left) cover, back cover, compact disc and first inside spread of booklet.
not shown is the full inside spread. it's just the lyrics to all the songs. also the back of the booklet, it's the 'thank you' section.
Love it all, the colors, the execution, the style. i can't see anything i'd change personally, super well done!
is that Zapfino for the script font with the extras?? if so well chosen.
nice work!

rosewood fill for the band name (I know, I know, it's really trendy right now...meh, it works perfectly)
and yes, zapfino for the album title. and yes, with the ligatures. mmmmmmm gotta love ligatures.
thanks for the nice comments btw, I've been hesitant to post work here but am slowly overcoming that fear. how else will I get noticed??
Fantastic.
Good job.

Yup, can't rip this apart either. Great work, the only thing that I might change is maybe adding some element to the inside spread under the zapfino ligatures, maybe a small riverside logo or something, but I really struggled to come up with that. Great stuff, show us more please!
The background pattern design reminds me a bit of the Kaiser chiefs or Bravery's album, can't remember which - No bad thing though!
thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated.
I haven't heard of either of those two bands, are they any good? I think I'll have to check them out...
IMO anyway. If you like indy stuff definately check them out. Latest album Yours Truly, Angry Mob was released a few months ago and is excellent! The Bravery are pretty good too, they released a self titled debut in 2005.
yep i really like this one as well really like the ligature usage! Cool!
+++ do you have xeal? +++
Hi and welcome! I also love your design. I was looking for a visual echo of Broadway/Hollywood, though, and didn't find it. I think another designer might have tried for marquee lights versus kliegs in the clouds at Graumann's Chinese, but what a cheesy cliché! This is instead just very stylish. Do you plan to imprint directly on the CD, or will there be a label?

yes, I figured the best way to avoid any sort-of hollywood/broadway cliché was to avoid it altogether and go with a nice illustration via a photograph supplied by the client.
This piece has already gone to production(which is why I'm glad no one is offering any major crit's. it's already too late to change anything, hehe). The CD was silk-screened (the design you see there is vector) using a 2 spot-colour gradient screen printed on a white underbase.
They're a really good emo/punk band. check out their myspace if you're into that sort of music www.myspace.com/riversiderock
again, thanks for the wonderful comments! I'm going to post some more of my stuff soon.
So glad your clients approved this. It's really nice. Thanks also for explaining how you're printing the CD. I've done something similar except when I wanted the shiny silver of the CD to be part of the design. I'm curious, though, are your people printing right to the inner and outer edges as shownn in your design? The guys I use have some restrictions on that unless I go to a label. Maybe I should go shopping for other guys. :-)
Mara
they don't print right to the edge. there is about 1/8" of unprinted surface. I'm pretty sure they can go almost to the edge on the inner circle, this is called the "extended printing surface" option but unfortunately, wasn't in my clients budget.
contact me and I will let you know what printer I used. I don't want to clutter Ivan's site with plugs for other companies.
:)
Ah, okay, that's more like the experience I'm already having. I forgot the "into the center" option costs a bit more. My guys work it the same way. They have the advantage of being close by, if nothing else. I appreciate your offer, though.
