Rolling back an update?
Joshua (222 pencils) | Tue, 2004-11-16 21:09Ok, I've posted about my Calculator not working, but I'm noticing that it's not the only program experiencing that problem. DVD Player doesn't work, and I suspect other programs are the same.
Here's my question for those of you who are smarter than I: When I was installing 10.3.6 I experienced a little problem, as my iBook shut itself down before the update was finished done being installed. Is there any way I can uninstall an update? I want to roll it back to 10.3.5 and run the installer again. How do I do so?

You can do an Archive and Install from your 10.3 disks -- this will preserve your installed apps and documents, but roll the OS back. From there you can then do the upgrade.
I was afraid that it would come to that, but I went to apple.com and downloaded the 10.3.6 update and reinstalled it. Everything seems to be working fine now.
Before you do anything, try downloading the 92MB "Combo Update" and run it. Many times it fixes problems stemming from messed up updates.
FWIW, you should ALWAYS use the combo updates when upgrading the system. The combo update usually is made available a few days after the initial "Software Update Prefs Pane" version, and must be downloaded from Apple's web site. You'll have less problems.
