Roofing Company need feedback
furrychinch (37 pencils) | Thu, 2011-08-11 23:09Hi people. Need some feedback on this logo my friend had designed.
He just started a roofing company and wants something that looks classy.
ARC stands for Aaron's Roofing Company, which will appear in smaller text under the current "ARC CO' font.
Thanks!

In which case, shouldn't it be called 'AR Co' ...?
You don't need gold effects, 3d text and gradients to make something look classy - which ironically, all give the opposite perception.
The 3d angle on all elements is inconsistent and illogical.
The arc - which i know tied in with the ARC Co thing and is 'kinda' like a roof - just doesn't say roof to me - it says arc.
Total reboot for me to be honest. Do some sketches....

I think you have to keep in mind some practical issues like printing. The logo might look crisp on a black background on screen but will it always be presented on a black background? What about a sheet sheet of paper? Also is this logo scalable? Vector based or high resolution bitmap? I think you have to consider wide application of a logo from postage stamp to billboard in scale and application to all kinds of materials from white letterhead to etched in glass... a really good logo will have considered all these.
tell your friend to stick to roofing and hire a designer to create logos.
he may be a good roofer. but he's a bad logo designer.
bad all around. complete start-over.
Horrible. Hire a designer.
Don't be cheap, hire a designer.

I say change your name to ARCO since it's twice as catchy. It looks like there is an Arco Roofing already, but as long as you're not in New Jersey (and who would be) you're gold. "Aarco" is also snappy if not as easy to understand.
This logo is bad. It's tilted up and off to the left. It doesn't have the decency to face me head on. It's ashamed. And with good reason. It looks like it was made with "My First 3D Text Widget". The arc looks like it's twisted at the peak. Why?

+1 on ICAN's remarks.
Arco is a gas company down here - they have stations all over the place. Too common.
What about using only the right side of the arch without the 3d effect with just "ARC" in a more unique and simple font (without 3d effect) underneath. The full arch looks too much like St. Louis (unless that was the goal). Agree with the other comments about not using "ARC CO" and "ARCO".
