Roots and Wings

This is another new program we started. Now I didn't come up with the name(I miss that meeting, sadly) but i still have to come up with the logo, website and promotional stuff. SO, with that, I tried my best to reflect what I was given.

A little background on this program: It is a educational program that is aim at teens(13-16) to teach them about homophobia and violence again gay teens.

This is the first image that came to me, and I thought the rainbow flag colors in the middle was a nice touch to illustrate what this was all about..

I like your font choice, but

I like your font choice, but find the graphics too literal. Think about who you're aiming at with this logo--tough guys that like to prove "they're the man" by tormenting the crap out of some poor gay guy. Have a logo that's more direct--ie. a powerful fist gingerly clasping a daisy.

And, if you want, turn the roots/wings graphic into a faded tattoo on the back of the fist--it's kind of tough looking.

interesting..

good start, but shrink it down much more then it is, and alot of the information will get lost.

the idea of a fist with the flower will make it look like a strong guy crunching something. then having this current concept as a tattoo on that hand will make the logo FAR too complicated and busy. K.I.S.S. isn't a rule that was made up for the fun of it.

the rainbow works well, but consider getting rid of the gradient part of it. that will be a rpinting issue and may blur more then anything. again, especially if done at smaller sizes.

other then that, i'm not crazy on the font, it really looks like an 8 year old wrote it, not a 13-16 year old. just something to concider, but i do think this is one of those times that a hand written font could work. just a matter of finding the right one.

the font..

That is funny because the font is called "fourth grader".

K.I.S.S. T.H.I.S.

Lose the rainbow. It looks like filler. I agree with 3dog, this is one you shouldn’t be literal with. 13 to 16 year old boys – homophobes – gay assault, the fist isn’t that bad an idea. The logo on the hand looks like the dog’s after thought. Reel it in 3dog.

Gingerly hold the daisy, yeah, I’m a big guy and I can hold a flower in my fist without crushing it. With the popularity of tattoos, your design could be utilized as a temporary tattoo kids would like to wear. You may have to break the K.I.S.S. rules with this one to get a really powerful look happening, but hey, rules were made to be broken. Think Harley-Davidson.

Rainbow...

Yeah, we talked about that, but the money we received is from a LGBTQ group and they will love the rainbow, so it is going to stay for the moment when we show it to them, tho it may disappear when we get to the kids.

We are actually going with another graphic with the kids themselves in our campaign. Tho they are still working on that. Committees, you know how that goes.

Rainbow idea is fine, but...

I wouldn't use a GRADIENT rainbow. The rainbow is a big part of the gay & lesbian community. However, I would just use a good old fashioned vector rainbow instead, and I think that would work perfectly. In other words, don't have the colors bleed into each other.

I don't mind the graphic, but the type/text needs to be a little more in balance with the graphic. It just looks like it's off to the side—like it doesn't co-exist with the graphic at all. I also think the graphic needs to be a bit stronger—it looks too weak. That's my only gripe.

I am passionate about this cause, as well, since my brother is gay and is HIV+ (since 1992 an doing very well). So any time I see or hear about any homophobia, it makes me sick to my stomach!!!

Good job!
