Saving in Adobe Illustrator 10
mrs_merriman (26 points) | Mon, 2006-05-08 19:56I have been using Illo 10 on OSX for quite a while now, but for some reason when I go to save a document, under format it says Text Document. Anyone have any idea why? Has it always been like this and I never noticed??!
And when I go to open a file by double clicking it, it doesn't default to Illo, it opens it in *shudder* Corel Draw.

Are you sure you didn't just select the wrong option when saving? If you look at the pulldown menu is "Illustrator Document" an option? If you save it as a "Text Document" what do you end up with?
To make sure your Illustrator (.ai) documents open in Illustrator, Get Info on one of them, and under "Open With" select Illustrator and then click on "Change All...".
Are you clicking on export rather than save?
If you have text selected on the page it will sometimes try and act clever and try and export just the text to file. You may also have a corrupted prefference file so delete your Illustrator preferences and see if that fixes the issue. You Will find them here:
