SD card for MBP

There is an SD card slot in the new MBPs. According to Apple you can even boot from it.

Question is do you think it will be faster to run the system from an SD card compared to the internal HD?

Thanks!

Why would you want to? Are you a spy or something?

Here's the speed rating (from your link) - compare to the drive speed and you'll have your answer... no?

"What is the maximum speed that my computer can use when reading and writing to an SD card in the SD card slot?

Your Macintosh has a maximum speed of 240 Mbit/s for SD media using the SD card slot. This exceeds the transfer rate of most SD media. Check the packaging that came with your SD media to determine the maximum transfer rate used by that media."

Because in the past Express Card slots in MBPs accepted SSD disks that ran much faster than HDs so you could put your system on it and have a quicker overall system. But no luck with the SD card.

that would be kinda cool if you could configure your own working environment with apps and desktop and tools. just plug in and its like youre at your home machine... but im sure they are thinking more about music, photos and dumb ass home movies : (
