Searching for technique information
I have actually seen an unusual technique used to achieve a 3D visual effect. By 3D I don't mean an image created where a "surfer" is coming out of a page or some other graphic illustration. The object in the 3D photograph was a flower. It was a single object. When viewed it actually looks three dimensional. Though the effect is only slight, It looks like the flower protruding from the photograph. It is unique. I understand the designer used a flatbed scanner to create his photograph.
I have attempted to do the same by using slightly different angled images of the same object. The opacity of the 18 different angled images were dropped to about 5% and then placed over each other using a single center point for reference. All I get is a fuzzy image. Can anyone tell me how the designer may have achieved his 3D effect? Keep in mind the viewer doesn't have to use special glasses to see it and it isn't an obvious double image where two images are placed side by side.
I have looked at dozens of references on the internet to try to get some glimps as to how this is done and haven't come up with a single answer.
Thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
