Selection help please

Can I do this? I made a rectangle by filling a rectangular selection in PS. I then modified the selection by expanding it 20 pixels (Selection>Modify>Expand...). Whenever I expand a selection like this, the corners are truncated. Feathering is set to 0. Why aren't the selection corners square?

Educated guess here, but I bet I'm right.

The corners are lopped-off because your request to expand the selection 20 px (10 px on each side) did just that. If you'll measure from the original corner to the lopped corner, you'll find that it is indeed 10 px.

You can expand that selection the way you want to by Control + Clicking [Right click] on the selection and using "Transform Selection." Look at the Options bar and manually enter the desired values in the "Height" and "Width" fields as needed. You may have to enter the proper unit of measurement in these fields as well.

As for WHY the rounded corners happen...I don't know for sure. I've heard (Adobe Engineer) Chris Cox explain it, but I don't recall his full explanation. And it's been a part of Photoshop for so long that I've just learned to work around it.

Thanks, I will quit trying to do the impossible. I thought maybe something was wrong with my puter and not me. Wrong again.
