Shall we ban fake Steve Ballmer

Aye. The reasons for me to come on CreativeBits have nothing to do with reading Steve Ballmer's post. I suppose he's here just to advertise his blog. Anyway I'd say... warn... warn again... ban.

I didn't realize he was annoying everyone else. I usually roll my eyes at his comments feeling sorta bad for him because he thinks he's funny when he really isn't. I was never tempted to go see his blog. I say warn him.

Slippery slope, Ivan. Ban one guy for a seemingly good reason, and you'll be stuck forever with that as your guide for whom to ban (or not) the next time the issue comes up. Much as I hate these jerks, I'd rather see you spend your time more enjoyably than having to study every nutcase that comes along to see if they should be banned or not. We can suck it up like grownups and deal with this stuff ourselves. Well, most of us can, anyway. Thank you for being concerned about this and for wanting to do the right thing. You are a prince. :-)

Sets a bad precedent. Besides that, I feel sorry for Steve because he's stuck using that inferior Windows technology.

banning seems unnecessary. if you're worried that all he's doing is promoting his blog, ask him to remove the link.

I find Fake Steve relatively entertaining and never considered him a nuisance. Of course, he's riding on your tailcoats. Now that that's over, how'd you like to see this awesome company that makes flashy business cards that glow in the dark and costs less than any other company out there... At least he's not "Fake I'm a PC".

I never even noticed the link on the bottom of his posts. Haha!

I first thought he was trying to be an annoying flamer, but finally realized he's just being tongue-in-cheek with his humor. Once I realized that, I just read his posts, chuckle a little, then move on.

In any case, I personally feel banning of other members really should be up to the admin(s) alone, and no one else. I don't feel an explanation is needed. If a person is really, REALLY irritating you on a site you admin, then that is your right to do as you choose. It may be a bit authoritarian, but I find opening the topic up for discussion (most especially with the person at risk of a ban) only opens the floodgates for arguments.

I have to ban people on sites occasionally, and I will NOT warn them that it's coming. I've found doing so just makes them feel free to verbally abuse me. If they come back later and ask why they were banned, I cite the rules for the comment sections of our sites and point out to them what they violated multiple times.

Anyhow, do what you feel is right for you, Ivan. You can't please everyone. If you're concerned what we'll think of you, just say this to yourself "What other people think of me is none of my business." ;)

For reasons which (at first glance) may appear obvious, I support Fabio's suggestion.
Failing that, ban everyone with a nom de plume, nom de guerre or blog.

I say ban him, the fake Steve Jobs isn't even funny and he's a bit clone of that. He contributes nothing to the website, just shameless self promotion.

I think Fake Steve Ballmer is hilarious... he actually sounds like Steve Ballmer. I wouldn't be surprised if it really was Steve Ballmer on his lunch break.

Steve Ballmer should stay. He leaves controversy everywhere he goes and we all know what controversy does: breathes interest.

It is good marketing for both you and Steve because... well... interest these days require being remarkable.
