Sick of only having 9 safe fonts to choose from?

sIFR allows you to embed font on a web page.
Some of you may already be familiar with this technique but it was news to me so I thought I'd share.
Essentially, "sIFR is meant to replace short passages of plain browser text with text rendered in your typeface of choice, regardless of whether or not your users have that font installed on their systems. It accomplishes this by using a combination of javascript, CSS, and Flash."
Check it out at http://www.mikeindustries.com/sifr for a more detailed description.
Is sIFR searchable
Is sIFR searchable text?

Yes and no...
While the Flash text isn't searchable on the page itself, sIFR is a behavior layer laid over the markup and styling. If the viewer doesn't use Flash then your XHTML headlines still work and the markup remains intact. It's the same concept as having a text equivalent for your images.

I prefer this method
I came into this thread expecting to find a link to this recent A List Apart article: CSS @ Ten
I'd prefer to see that method become universally adopted, maybe it's just my hatred of all things FLASH.
It's one of those things...
that people either love or hate. If everyone had a DSL/cable line I'd use it exclusively.
