I'm tired of the term "web 2.0"
It's the narrow use it gets that kills me.
Lately, Web 2.0 has become synonymous with Wordpress, gradients, vector graphics, and glassine banners, completely ignoring the collaborative and social media it was meant to encompass.
I just hope that Web 3.0 doesn't develop a "look" too.
I've been saying that for over a year now. Web 2.0 refers to the "social" aspect of the Web. The gradient/vector/glassine look, heavy use of a "beta" badge and logos that use a speech bubble are just a trend that happened to have fallen on us right at the W2.0 start. Blogs are generally speaking, collaborative (like CB) effort - which of course makes it social.
What bothers me is that any site that happens to be a blog, or use a brightly colored logo is generally called a Web 2.0 site - which of course is not true.
In any case, I agree with you guys... I'm tired of hearing about it.

Thank you, guys, for referring to the social impact covered by the term, Web 2.0. Has everybody read Al Gore's book, "The Assault on Reason"? Couldn't put it down. Lifted me to new heights of awareness and hope. I wish I saw all of that on current.tv but I seldom do. I guess when there's no such thing as "prime time," and the masses do their own programming and ratings calculations, you actually have to HUNT for the good stuff. It's encouraging that so many people DO.

It's good to know I'm not the only one! hahaha. I think what disturbs me the most about web 2.0 is the fact that the aesthetic is being used to make concept-less logos appealing. It's a disguise for weak design. (with a few exceptions of course).
I just hope the design world will get over it soon.
Web 2.0 is as tired as the drop shadow and the reflection. Can't wait to move on and just call it the 'Web' again.
