simple, professional mac invoicing program?
wgzn (1712 pencils) | Wed, 2010-11-10 22:22am i the only one who'd enjoy a simple, customizable, professionally behaving and looking invoicing program for the mac?
yeah, there is quickbooks pro. but that's a LOT of program if all you want to do is manage your invoicing...
anyone?

I've been using Filemaker Pro for years, but it's tied to my G3 which I'm mothballing as soon as my new computer is worked into the system. It seems silly to pay $299 to buy another copy of FM - especially since my invoices are very simple these days (I used to sell a lot of film, scans, etc... ). I'm going to try Bento ($49) which supposedly includes a stripped down database. You can download a 30 day trial on the Filemaker website, but I tried a couple days ago and they never sent me the confirmation email - so not really sure what happened and haven't had a chance to get back in there and check.
I use iBiz for invoicing and its sister program iBank for end-of-the-year tax stuff.
Used to use a customized Filemaker solution, but iBiz makes it easy.
They have decent support as well.
Before trying any program, read their forums. You'll see there what problems people are having and how soon any issues are addressed.

reason i propose this is im considering mounting an effort to build a simple invoicing program and wondered if there would be a market for it...
I'd like something customizable that runs in the $49 price range - so you have your first customer for something like that. If it gets up over $100, I might as well jump to Filemaker because I have marketable skills in that program and I can build a dBase/invoicing system exactly the way I want as I did with my current set-up.
thats right about where i was thinking, cheers art!
Slightly off-topic in that it does not generate invoices, but I stumbled on an app that makes time tracking a breeze. It's called TimeLog 4.x
What sets it apart from other time trackers is that it records how much time I spend using various apps (one can choose which apps it tracks.)
It interfaces with another app called Grand Total which has an invoice generator as part of the package, but I don't like it too much and don't use it.
Check it out. http://www.mediaatelier.com/TimeLog4
