SNL parodies iPhone problems

Pretty funny. To be honest - not that far off from how I feel about it...

SNL’s Sketch Pits iPhone 5 Factory Workers Problems Against The Tech Critics

Saturday Night Live’s latest parody sketch gives life to that oft-quted phrase ‘first world problems’. (Here’s an alternative link if the one above doesn’t work). In a biting take-down of some of the legitimate, but sometimes whiny niggles us tech press have with the new iPhone 5, the show assembled a mock Tech TV show called Tech Talk. Chaired by Christina Applegate, it features ‘writers’ from Cnet, Wired and Gizmodo who initially complain about Maps, a purplish hue in photos of the sun, and the unbearable lightness of the iPhone. These problems are variously described as a ‘nightmare,’ ‘unacceptable’ and ‘impossible’ to deal with.

I hate region locking. You'll be happy to know I have an iPhone 5 now Art ;)

Thought I felt a tremor in my Apple stock. Thanks for the business. ;)

I looked for the video on youtube - didn't see it. Sorry.

kinda funny, but that purple thing is really a HUGE pain in the ass. it happens on any significant difference in exposure. not just bright sources.

i wouldnt really be bothered if apple wasnt touting camera performance as a selling point of the device...

here is a video showing it in motion...

This video compares the iPhone 4 and 5 and shows there are similar problems with the 4 too (although for some reason we didn't hear about it when the 4 came out?) He also claims it's a problem with "all" phones. Personally, from what I can see (and I'm only looking at these and other videos) it looks like there would be light flares where the purple is anyway - it just wouldn't be purple on a standard digital camera. Is it a problem? Sure. But for me it wouldn't be a deal killer.

Call me a fanboy, but I still see the iPhone 5 "problems" in the same category as the other problems the previous versions had. If I were to pick one flaw in iPhone history as the worst ever - it would be the antenna thing from iPhone 3(?)... not a camera lens flare or a few people allegedly finding minor scratches on their phones.

i dont buy that video at all and wonder if somehow apple created or sponsored it under the table. as ive had every iphone except the 4s and ive yet to see any purple flares before...

just my experience. YMMV.

though siri, the turn by tun local maps and 4g speed (that bests my home uverse!) make the phone a winner even if it had no camera at all

my page is totally public. so it should be viewable by all.

The Facebook page is not available to me - but I don't think anyone (including Apple) is questioning whether or not the purple flare is happening. I'm positive they had nothing to do with creating that video.

Funny... I didn't peg you as a conspiracy theorist. ;-)

it just strikes me as odd how aggressively they are selling the quality of the camera and its features yet how easy it is to invoke the purple flaring... photo attached.
