So they found us...
Ivan | Thu, 2005-05-19 20:57The first few spam comments have just been catched by the anonymous comments filter. :) I'm happy anonymous comments have to go through this approval process. I hate spam, especially on a forum. It's such a waste of everybody's time. Especially if it's not even on topic. I swear, these guys are the ones causing global warming with their persistent stupidity. Argh!

Hey, what do you guys reckon. Do you think spamming started way back or just as the internet was born? What would yesterdays spammers be doing?
Eeek, that's nothing Mac or design related is it. Sorry! But good job Ivan. If only you could iBash them huh.
"What would yesterdays spammers be doing?" - junk mail in your mail box! ;-)

They just don't stop. 5-6 every 3 hours. Same company. What can one do about such idiots? Can I sue them or something?
Report it to your host and let them take actions against the host, ip adress etc.
yep. That's always fun.
Ok. I'll do that. Apparently Dreamhost can block IPs from a site.
In America they are taking serious action against Spammers. Legal or otherwise. so depending on where the servers originate from, you could probably sue them.

I learned that with .htaccess you can block certain IPs from your site. I know where these spammers are coming from, so I could just block them, but unfortunately their IP changes continously. However one thing is constant. Their domain. So I blocked their domain, so any comments pointing to that url just get deleted. Surely they can register another domain, but is it worth it? I can just block every domain they register. End of story.
