Southern Palms Website
thePhilster (17 points) | Wed, 2005-09-21 23:20Hi,
Been a long-time reader of the site but have only just got around to posting anything for critique. Anyway, this is a site for my old man who part owns a villa in Orlando. Just launched the site tonight, so keen to get any feedback you guys might have, good or bad!!
Thanks in advance,
Phil

I kind of noticed the navbar links look kind of blurry. Maybe it's just the background behind them.
Looks very nice though, both the villa and the website.
Abdul, I think its meant to look like that ;) , its almost like a glass effect, I like it.
Overall v.nice job, and nice villa :)

Yeah, that's actually reflections of the text you can see, though the compression is a little high on that JPG to keep the overall page size down...
Thanks for looking and for feedback!!

I love the Flash interface of the gallery section. Did you build that from scratch or was that a canned gallery that you customized? If it is a canned effect can you share where you got it from? Either way looks good but the interface is just awesome along with the elements you have on the site. Minor comments would be... the picture of the dude surfing looks a tad bit of lesser quality and could use a lil more professional look as far as quality of the image goes. I like the cursive font you are using for titles and was curious what font that was if it isn't a secret :) I would suggest adding a very light grey inner shadow or border just to set off the edge to your polaroid frames as it tends to blend into the white background a lil too much I think. It is just a suggestion for you to play with :)
Over all a very clean, happy looking and appealing site in general. I like it =)
:: good job ::
... the flash slideshow is from www.slideshowpro.net and it's a fantastic bit of kit, worth much more than the $20 currently charged!!
I took most of the pics with my digital SLR (hence the quality is quite good on most) and the surfer dude is actually the son of a joint owner, and he took that pic with his (normal) digital camera. My dad and him both wanted the pic on, so I can't do much about that. There's a mini Content Management System behind the whole site though, so that pic can be changed by them at any time...
As for the font, it's called Cocktail Shaker ($39 from http://www.veer.com/products/typedetail.aspx?image=UMT0000056).
Thanks for looking!
That is Slide Show Pro. Very nice look.

Very slick. The only thing I would mention too is the menu is a bit jagged. You may want to give a few more KBs to make it sharper.
The gallery is very well integrated and I love the legend you added below.
I've had a few people say that, so I've reduced the compression and I think that should have sharpened it up.
I've also had a few people tell me to lose the feet, so I may be saying au revior to them soon too!!

I am joing the fray rather belatedly. But I could not let this go without a comment.
Well, a great site. The general feeling that one comes away is consistent with the site message. great work again. My only problem, and it is small one, is that the utility navigation at the top would be better if placed to the right instead of the left. And there is no need to home as one of the menus there. It is kind of wierd to have home that up there.
Good work again.
