Do you mean they sell hair styling products to stylists? It's hair-styling salon? They manufacture hair? Please explain. :-)
None of these says anything to me at all, but the first one is the best of the lot, for what that's worth.
These all seem stuck in the 1950s. Maybe that's your intent, but there are more dynamic ways to get that message across. They've become almost a design cliché, though. (I'm thinking of the kinds of designs you see on Web sites dealing with (duh) 50s pop culture. I think you might want to aim for something more truly contemporary, although without knowing more about your client's business, I probably shouldn't push that idea.
If your client is restricting your creativity on this, you might want to browse Ivan's blog for links to some thought processes you can help them go through in helping them develop a distinctive identity.

We are doing logo design in our class right now. The company I've made up is called Stylist Choice. it's a hair brand like Janet & Milky Way, that sells human and synthetic hair. I took you advice and went to look at some more contempory design books, but the new ideas I came up with just don't seem complete or together. Do you have any suggestions that would help to make my designs "POP"?
