Suggestive Technique

What have ya'll done when you encounter a client of small businesses that are still "malleable" (i.e. not 20 years in business) that come to you with inappropriately lengthy, drawn-out, wordy, cumbersome (you get it now?) names?

Is it appropriate to gently suggest shortening the name?

I've got a client with an operating name of 6 words totaling 39 characters, and no its not a law firm!

If their lengthy name fits on their check, what the hell do you care?

I think you can suggest to create an abbreviation that they use in their communication. But as Mara said, don't sweat it. A long name can be a differentiator.
