Summit of the America's 2008 Logo Proposals
ireid (1283 pencils) | Thu, 2007-12-20 12:07HI all. Thanks for the feedback, put me back on track. . . here are some updates. I went more abstract and am feeling a "little" better about them. Any thoughts? (BTW the last one on the lower right is a joke. . . me just being fed up! lol)
The theme of the Summit is :"Securing Our Citizens' Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability"
Audience: "VIP Executive and Highest level Public Sector..."
Message: The key message should focus on positioning Trinidad & Tobago as an ambitious country which has shown the power of transformation to become a small engine of growth and development.
What should the audience think or do? From the logo, the audience should immediately get a feel for what T&T represents as defined above (People Power, Potential)"
This is the CONDENSED VERSION pulling out the salient points. . . you can see past logos here: http://www.summit-americas.org/Default.htm
I do have more ideas BUT don't know whether I'm on the right track.
Thanks

I think the logos are too busy, I would work first on B&W removing all of the effects (drop shadows, bevels, etc.) After you have an idea of which one is the one that works better then apply color.
Hopes that help

Way too busy, agreed.
Have you checked out the How to design a Logo post? Some GREAT ideas there that we don't need to rehash here.
Start in black and white. Separate your icon from your logotype.

My problem really is trying to mesh two radically different shapes (the pan shape which in itself is VERY busy) and the western hemisphere. . . :P

I kind of like number one. Perhaps working with the type on top to make it look more comfortably placed on the red. Maybe a sans-serif?
I don't know why, but I wouldn't use red on this one. It could be slightly associated with socialistic ideas. Tell me if I am wrong.

I'll try a sans serif. Red white and Black are our flag colours: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinidad_%26_Tobago
:)
I will try the black instead as an option.
