Summit of the Americas REDUX

Ok. Did some more. Thanks for all the comments so far. . . You were right Nato! (as always) once I started removing S**t then it started to feel a lot better. Not entirely there YET AND I think the client's going to have a FIT because they liked the balls! lol
I tried another font, but I think the problem is is that the last font was bold so it was too heavy,

Top right I like the
Top right I like the simplicity of it... simplify that red one to look like the others though.
Bottom right, I like the text and lines. Spheres need to be simplified
Thanks
When you say "simplify that red one to look like the others though." what do you mean exactly?

Lose the balls
I think all the circling globes/balls/whatever are beside the point. If I were thee, I would stick to the central image, the version of the globe (with continents and highlighted region, but with that region, the area you've reversed out in white, a bit larger) shown in the top center draft, lose all the other circusey balls popping up from it it, and justify all the text in two lines below it in initial caps (you can monkey with the size of the "of the" and "and" [or ampersand] to arrive at attractive letter spacing):
Summit of the Americas
2009: Trinidad and Tobago
Perhaps you could use the red of the highlighted region plus another appropriate color, or just a solid blue and the red, to keep any printing costs down.

Too busy
These logos are WAY too busy. You need to be a sculptor now and 'let the stone tell you what to remove to expose the true beauty within' this logo.

not enough variation in concept
too many colors and too many globes. It reminds me of the molecular models used in chemistry. Try something more abstract...outside the box, or circle if you will. The font is OK, but the justification bothers me.
Less is more!
I agree - simplify things. You don't need multiple different-colored globes to represent a coming together of different cultures.
LIke mara said, stick with the one globe that depicts both continents, then seriously work on the typography of your logo - it definitely needs work. Right now it's way off balance.
Maybe go for something
with more of a Caribbean flavor to it? Not too kitsche, but maybe something that just by looking at it it says tropical, hot, festive ( again, not too kitsche. You're in Trinidad man! Lots of inspiration around you!
Hmm...maybe squash the circles so they look like the top of steel pan drums ;)
Ack!
I started there. . . moved on. The client also said that they don't want "steel pans" and "tropical" (its too clichéd don't you think?) Besides we have a LOT more to us than the steel pan. Almost 50% of our nationals are East Indian (Asian) descent and that won't represent them really. This is an international Summit, the Prez of USA is coming here and all so it has to be done with that in mind. . .

Haha!
Right, I was just throwing random ideas around, hence my use of the word kitsch :) My parents are West Indian (My mom is actually in Trinidad right now spending three months visiting family and friends)and yes, there is much, MUCH more to our beautiful culture than just steel pans. I am really interested in how this project is going to go, and if I think of any little ideas if you don't mind I'd love to share them with you. Regardless, I think you are doing a good job at it as is and look forward to seeing the end result.
Cheers mate
P.S. As much as I love to see the island as part of the logo, it should be incorporated more into the logo itself.
Hey Hey. Nice to hear from a Trini!
Any chance you can get me a job where you are!? lol No Seriously!
Thanks for all the input. My deadline is 2morrow morning at nine so if you think of anything I'll try to act on it b4 then. If I use one aspect the Indian Community will be up in arms, if I use another the Afro-Trini's will be vex, then if I combine all you get the TTENT logo! lol (see an earlier critique of mine)
Thanks again

Trinidad
Does the Trinidad image HAVE to be in the logo?
Of all the reworks I like the best, for me it's second row down, last one on the right. Still not grooving on the multiple colors. No way you can maybe just choose two colors at the most?
Typography still needs a lot of work. ;)
(By the way, you're such a good sport in all of this, that's really nice!)
Yes. . . (sigh) . . .yes it does. . .
The two Mandatories: 1.) Trinidad & Tobago (flag/country SOMETHING Representative of ALL Trinidad) 2.) Multi colours. . . sigh They have money so what the hey?
Oh and they LIKED the idea of the Balls. . . my bad I just DIDN'T THINK they would go with it! The AE is INSISTING that there be balls. . . lol
I won't begin to tell what's wrong with that line!

Black and white
I always harp on this, but take all the colors out and just focus on the logotype and icon for now. Make sure those work and THEN worry about color.

Actually I did that! :)
But I really have no more time to do a thorough job I'm afraid. I have already told them that it takes time to come up with a solid identity. . . deadline's still what it is. . . so I'm doing my best with the time I have.
Thanks for all the critiques, we'll see what they choose!
