t34m .uh8 logo

This is a logo I created for a Counter-Strike clan called "t34m .uh8" (pronounced team undead hate). For those who don't know, Counter-Strike is a multiplayer online game based on 2 opposing teams mostly just killing each other with automatic weapons. The owner of team uh8 wanted the logo to reflect the violent nature of the game in a subtle way. After a few versions, we finally settled on this one. It is a completed work but I still wanted to see what you folks liked/didn't like about it. Thanks.
PS: In case you can't tell, those are grenades in the "8". Nobody I showed this to in that community had a hard time recognizing 'em, though.

I think it looks like crap

did i not follow the rules of posting a critique or something?
My brother and sister's husband both play this online game so I have a fair idea of what the audience is like. I'm having trouble discerning the grenades. I'd made them more textural--show the ridges on the units. Good selection on font, plus the starkness of the black and white only treatment is appropriate.
ttfn!

It looks like a radio station logo to me. Like you could easily replace it with something like "97.1 FM".
I'm actually very familiar with this game (video games are definitely my guilty pleasure ;) ) and although I can see the grenades, from a graphic design point of view they look kind of strange. Without knowing what they are, your logo appears to have two separate points of perspective (the UH to one perspective, the 8 to another), which looks like a mistake.
You've got several different types of grunge, here - which is distracting to me because it's not consistent. .UH8 has much cleaner lines than the brackets and the T34m. I would try to make them match more so it doesn't look like two different fonts/styles.

Perfectly Lost Designs
I love grunge graphic design. Although I have never really attempted it myself.
Either way, I'm curious why you responded to your own post and saying it looks like crap?? If you think it looks like crap, why ask us? You've already claimed that you don't like it, so why not redesign it? Or is the client dead set on it?
Regardless, I like it. I think it conveys the feeling of being a video game/grunge. I personally think it works. Not all logo designs need to look corporate and cookie-cutter. I like the individualism associated with it.
That's my opinion.

Thanks onegirlcreative. My comments on my own piece were just me goofing off since 1.5 days went by and people weren't commenting on it, but were commenting on newer submissions.
I'm thinking of ditching the brackets and straightening the letters in uh8. Do you think this would be an improvement?
I tried to visualize how it would look without the brackets, and for some reason, to me, it gives it more balance with the brackets. I like the grunge look and feel with this logo, therefore I wouldn't change a thing. Not even straightening out the letters.
They say that in order to break the rules, you must know them first. You have executed that extremely well here.
Just my two cents. =P
