also, I got the Apple Icon off of deviantart...is that copyright infringement? Its only a school club...I'm sure I could EASILY make my own, but I liked this one.
The Prez told me that he didn't like the color of the "The" in "The Apple Club". I agree with him, but do you think it would look weird if it were the same color as "Club"? Maybe just a lighter color...but that would be harder to see...
I added color to "The" and "Club". I'm not sure if it's what you meant by accents...but I think it kind of looks nicer. I can change them to any color now. Tell me which color you think would nicest...and I'll try it. :)
I don't know if Apple would come after a high school student or not for copyright infringement. Sorry. Not a lawyer.
Colour...I would suggest just playing with some; you'll probably have lots of time while you're sitting in court waiting for the verdict to come down at your hearing ;)
ya...I know...( This is for a school club by the way) I didn't want to make it look like I put too much effort into it because I want the club to have a good reputation (as opposed to a nerdy one). Apple has a good reputation so I figured it would be best if I just used the Apple logo because everyone knows what the Apple Logo means. I also wanted the logo to be simple and clean, like Apple is. If you notice...this Apple logo is slightly altered to have a glossy look and to accommodate the "C" in "Club" more effectively. I wanted something that would look good on a shirt. It would be hard to use something other than the Apple Logo to represent a High school club...most people would not understand what the club is for if I did that. I would normally never use an already trademarked image for a logo...but I wanted it to be obvious that the club was about Apple. Does that make sense?
This logo didn't get better with shading and new colors. And you definitely better get permission before using another company's logo in your artwork. Is this group registered, affiliated or approved by apple? If not, you might want to ditch it.
What should I do? Should I send Steve Jobs an email asking if he approves of the use of the Apple logo for a small high school club? I wouldn't think he would care, but I will ask him...I just don't know his email address :). I did start in black and white. It looks just as nice in black and white. I decided it would also be nice to have the option to change the color. I can change it to any color I want now. I was thinking about the color usage for shirts and maybe some other things...but I would mostly use the black and white one.
Simply having a c in the cut out of the trademarked apple logo, is not a concept. Colours do not make a concept.
Seriously, think about your ideas before just grabbing some text and slapping it willy nilly eitherside of the Apple logo.
If you dont understand what you're doing wrong here, in terms of not seeing how empty your logo is in terms of meaning - you're going to find your career in design wont last very long. Go and look at logo showcase sites, other peoples portfolios, see how they approach an idea. Find out how you can target the essense of an idea, and move on building from there.
I'm trying to be kind here by telling you how it is, ignore us if you wish I've seen a lot of crap and a lot of clever ideas on this site in the 3 years I've been a member of this site.
Oh and btw - if you did email Big Steve J' ... you will find the legal team will tell you no one in any instance unless specifically given permission by Apple, from some kind of affliation are allowed to use the Apple logo. (adding a shine to the logo does not change anything!)
eh, whatever. I'm not a logo design kinda guy. I'll work on that area of graphic design, yes. But I'm perfectly happy with this logo for the club and so is the president, so It'll probably stay this way. :( I wasn't aware that it isn't creative...I think the c in the bitemark of the apple logo is very creative... I know its crap, but its simple and clean and nice to look at. I didn't want to make it so obvious that I took a long time on it, and I believe I've achieved that look. I don't want the club to be too formal, or else people won't join it because they'll think its nerdy. Ugh...do you really not like this design? Also, i didn't just add a shine to the logo, its a completely different logo. It isn't the same shape as the apple one. The cut in it is more "c" shaped, if you haven't noticed. :)
The President of the club
The president of the club said he LOVES this one...tell me what you think.
Hail to the prez. I like it

Have you thought of adding an accent colour?

ya, that's a good idea...but I wanted to design it in black and white first. I've been told that is the correct way to create a logo.

lol, K. Thanks :)
I agree.
It's not being creative it's just ripping of the apple logo and adding a little type.
I know the old adage of good artists copy, great artists steal, but this is taking it a little too far.

Just copy the apple design motif
clean minimal design and place any necessary text with Myriad.

Start in black and white. Start over.
