i did not do the logo, i know it looks like a lot of other logos (quark, scottish arts counci etc.) i guess it happens when companies uses a very simple shape as a logo
i did the tree and used the shape of the logo to make the leaves
Very minimalistic compared to the phone books I'm used to seeing here in the States. The tree is a neat idea, though the logo says "clover" to me, but I dunno what would really be appropriate for a phone book.
Is there going to be anything else on the cover? All that white space with the gradient in the background kind of irks me, I just don't like large gradients like that. You might want to check how it will print because you could end up with some serious banding issues.
the idea behind the tree is "conection".
i agree about the gradient. it might print messy.
gradients always look better on screen, also when using a gradient you dont get that spacial feel you get on screen. dunno why, maybe because the white is less brighter on paper.

It is suppose to say "spring" or something like that.. they didn't say anything more than that - the company recently sepperated from the main phone company since it was bought by another company - and they are going trough some identity changes - guessing they aren't sure what they want
the logo it self isn't a clover (www.ja.is)
offset prints do print better gradients than inkjet/laser printers..
I'm not sure what else I could have in the background.. I don't think solid color would be better
The only thing that bothers me really is the gradient. It is banding way too much, and that would be very evident in the final print. I would to the gradient in Photoshop, where you have more control over the banding. You can do some little tricks like using multiple layers of the color over each other to build the color slowly, also adding a little bit of noise to the layers softens the edges of the gradient bands, but don't put in so much noise, the nose becomes overly evident.
Other than that, I think it is certainly unique. I am supposing the tree has a meaning of something like "branching" out and contacting others. So well done. CalvinCarl.com
I don't know if you need the tree. It would be much cleaner if you dismissed the tree and left the other elements. Or even just added another tree that is better looking.

What is it.. Why did you use a tree?
The look reminds me of the bahamas logo. That could just be me though
As a phonebook cover, this kicks ass. The tree artwork is pretty sweet, is that yours?

The tree and the logo are fighting a bit for dominance.
I think the tree needs to be bigger... or the logo smaller?
Other than that, I'll echo the rest of the crowd... Sweet tree!
