Thinking about adding first painter experience to my portfolio - yah or neh
libbym1 (6 pencils) | Tue, 2005-04-19 13:45I just got Corel Painter and did this "thing" thought it could be a magazine cover. Laid in the type with a false magazine name and some borrowed text from a print magazine for some topics but ( not Print's treatment of the text.)
Anyhow, should it stay or should it go and why? Thanks either way.

You realize that this illustration doesn't really show off your skills as an illustrator. Since it's contemporary art, anything goes, so if you're showing your inner artist the judgement can only be subjective. If you are including this piece in your porti to show off you typo skills, than you need to work on it a bit more. So, I would say if you have better pieces leave this one out.
I think you might want to think about tightening up the type your using in the lower left, looks like you have some spacing issues there. As for the illustration as mentioned before it's pretty much subjective.
I agree that the type ehas spacing issues, and the point of the iluustration was not some much vector or hand created illustration it was basically a practice with'n a subjective fine arts. So... I guess like aything that could possibly be placed on a cover of any magazine, its all subjective. thanks.
i say neh.
Please do provide some reasoning. Thank you!
The only thing I would change is not to force justify the lower type.
I will assume that you have other really strong structured pieces in your book so I say put it in.
