Thinking about cb
Ivan | Fri, 2010-09-10 09:42Guys, I was thinking about redesigning cb a bit. I was thinking to give more importance to the critique section as I think it's the most important part of the site and make the blog more of a community based blog where anyone can post links and articles and the community would vote on their usefulness. What do you think? Any other ideas are welcome too!

The critique section is probably the most accessible to the public and therefore receives the most action - so putting it up front makes sense to me. But you might be killing the blogs - I know sometimes the only reason I read them is because my bookmark leads to the front and a subject line will catch my eye. Then I naturally progress thru the site - blog-forum-critique.
But your second idea sounds more like the forum to me - not a blog.
That's my 2 cents - hope it helps.
I agree with making the critique section more prominent, Like Ads of the World. But I suggest that the blog articles by you and other selected contributers are valuable. There is a wealth of information there, and while they may not attract as many comments as the critique section, I'd guess that they're well read. I come here to be informed as much as I do to gently coax crap work into my subjective take on good design. The division between quality blog posts and one-off queries and links in the forum should be maintained. Perhaps allow more of the quality forum contributions to be posted on the front page?
