Thought holding me back from ordering iPod shuffle
Ivan | Wed, 2005-01-12 07:44What if they come out with an iPhone with similar capacity! That would make the iPod shuffle obsolete, because I'll definitely going to buy the iPhone. I wish I had a crystall ball!

Since they have an agreement with motorola, I doubt that they would produce an iPhone.

As sPECtre already said, Motorola has already introduced the "iPhone" it's just not an Apple product, and it's not called the iPhone (at least I don't think it is). I wouldn't hold my breath for Apple for a phone.

Two different animals, anyway.
I don't own a cell phone, and plan to hold off getting one for as long as possible.
The iPod Shuffle is so small and lightweight, with great battery life...it'd be my choice to carry as a music source when out walking, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, working out, or any other activity where I'd want to be as unencumbered as possible.
Greeting from the MacWorld Expo. I couln't help myself and grabbed a shuffle at the apple store right after the keynote. I think it is a great product, it wasn't that long ago that a 512 flash drive was more than $99. How can you go wrong when you add a music player and 12 hours of battery life?
Samsug is about to launch a new phone that will act as an MP3 player, phone, camera (3 megapixal is what I last heard).... and it will be able to download video and trailers from the internet. So far I've watched the trailers for Blade 3, Matrix 3, part of a children's PBS show, a nature show, a trailer for a cops episode, and a version of the girls gone wild trailer (with the censor boxes). You can also actually set MP3 songs as your ringer. The phone will ship with a set of stereo ear buds that are actually pretty good.
But... I think I'll wait and buy a Sony PlayStation Portable.
Microsoft is also rumored to be giving out mac g5s as the development platform for the new xbox. :)
If they do come out with an iPhone, it prolly wont have any dial keys on it. :P

PSP isn't doing so well, you might consider a DS!

Hey! Congrats! If you hear any iPhone rumors let us know! In fact if you hear any rumors, let us know! :)
I went to the Adobe CS seminar, and it was informative. The real highlight of the show was the keynote. I have always been a Mac lover, but the keynote excided my expectation of coolness and gave me a better appreciation for Tiger. I think the shuffle is great and when I read some people complaints about it, it seems like they just don't get it. Sure, apple didn't invent the shuffle feature, but maybe they are overlooking the software side. I haven't seen any other player that will randomly pull songs from you whole collection and auto populate the player at the push of a button. I think that people who haven't watched the keynote and have never used one are missing that feature, and it is part of what makes the shuffle unique. As far as rumors, MacWorld seemed to put them more at rest than create new ones. Personally I think the shuffle and the mac mini are better than what most of the rumors came up with.
Glad to hear you like the Shuffle. I just ordered one for hubby for Valentine's Day although it may be a little late. He has no idea so he won't mind. He has an MG he's been working on all winter and I want him to have this when he gets it ready to go on the road when the warm weather hits.
that's what i call a GOOD WIFE :)
He's a sweetie. he's worth it.
Ahhh, but Billwhit, you can't download movies or movie clips from the internet and watch them on the DS... Even the Playstation mag had an article on it... although the article seemed more to be geared towards those who would be stupid enough to watch "adult" videos in public. The last line was something about, "just make sure you're not the first person arrested for watching porn in a public place." I just think there is something awesome about downloading whole movies and watching them on a handheld that can also play games. *grins*
As for the ipod shuffle, I think they look cool.... but there are some songs in my itunes I really would rather DIDN'T appear randomly on my portable music source. Christmas music in July... gregorian chants mixed with Celtic Rock... the occasional catholic hymn and the goth rock... my ipod might melt.
*evil grin*
Oh, I misunderstood. I though you were looking for a portable gaming system, not a media viewer. From what I understand the PSP's games are sub-par, not to mention the battery life. Of course a playstation magazine is going to be slated toward Sony. You might be better off checking unbiased sources to get the real info. Check the link, they are producing an add on to give the DS media player abilities.
