tips?
pokie (1198 points) | Tue, 2008-07-08 22:08Does everyone get tips on Freelance jobs? I'd say on the majority of jobs I get, I end up with a tip. Again, today, 20% tip. Is this normal? Do you claim it on your taxes?

The only tip I've ever received is "Don't eat yellow snow."
I have never received a tip, but my clientele has treated to wine, lunch, shows and so forth... Claiming on taxes? I suppose if it's part of the cheque remitted you'll probably need to...but a cash tip...

Reminded me of the Abominable Snowman from Monster's INC.
"Who wants yellow snow cones!?"
"No No really! I made them myself!"

Ha! After seeing that movie, my boys wanted a little sister like Boo.
However, whenever I hear that term, I always think of the infamous Mr. Zappa. Check out the following animation:

...has Maple Syrup in it! :)
I've honestly never heard of tipping, but if a client does in fact tip, it must be because you gave them exceptional work and went above and beyond your duties. In which cause, bravo!

i've never gotten a "tip." *sigh*
only thing i've gotten was a very nice crystal award from the USNA Alumni Association for a book i did for them.
legally, you *should* report a cash tip. of course, if there's no chance the client will report it to the IRS, then it's up to you whether you feel enough guilt to report it yourself.
I've never heard of being "tipped" for design work. You've got some GREAT clients! What industry do you cater to? Hospitality perhaps?

Do you like FF3? I'm still in 2 till they make FoxMarks work in it.

so far, so good. seems to be a slightly smaller memory footprint. most of my addons work now (or i have alternatives).
When I'm googling images, is the Piclens app. So cool, so COOL! It's a really funky interface, makes browsing images fun!

I've decided that I'm getting tips because I'm charging too little.
This last one was that t-shirt design that I did (with about 16 caricatures on it). Just for a family.
I was about to say, that if you're getting tipped fairly regularly, then you need to go up on your rates.
I never declare anything I don't have to. Tips or otherwise.
