Lorem Ipsum revisited
Submitted by Ivan on Tue, 2005-10-25 16:43.
Just when I thought I have the simplest method to get Lorem Ipsum at hand, I found an even better one. Cicero generates a chunk of preset size of random copy and puts it on my clipboard. I just need to click a button in Cicero widget in Dashboard. See a sample of the generated copy below:
Facilisis at vero eros et accumsan et iusto odio dignissim qui. In hendrerit in vulputate velit esse molestie; consequat vel illum? Eleifend option congue nihil imperdiet doming id placerat! Laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat ut suscipit lobortis nisl. Modo typi qui, nunc nobis videntur parum clari fiant sollemnes in.

Looks nice. You could do
Looks nice. You could do pretty much the same thing with Textpander by making 3 or 4 different lengths of Lorem Ipsum text with a shortcut key. Save you having to boot up Dashboard. It's taking up to 10 seconds for me to use the only single widget (Unit Convertor) I actually find useful. Hopefully it might be a preference to switch Dashboard off in 10.5

Personally, I like to use
Personally, I like to use The Motherlode lorem ipsum generator. Not only does it produce great lorem ipsum text, but it also does it in multiple languages and character sets.... just in case you want to spice your layouts up a bit (or you're working in a different country/region.)
I'd love to see a Dashboard widget with the same functionality.
Actually, there is a widget.
Actually, there is a widget. I'm pretty sure I found it on apple.com

For the PC users here
I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic about saying thanks but for what its worth, I use this site which you might have heard of before but I use it at work and at home when ever I need some Lorem Ipsum. Check it out if you have not before.

Let me know if thats a good solution for you. Its not an app but it gets the job done in my opinion and its accessible anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.
thanks.
thanks for another pc-able reference.

another choice
Dolor Sit Amet is a great widget for this. Much less folderol and it works very simply. No need to flip the widget around. Just hit if you want characters, words, or paragraphs, then hit a digit for how many, then copy to clipboard.
Cool, I really like that
Cool, I really like that one! Compact and no fussing around, just click, enter some numbers, presto.
And another Choice
You may have heard of this one. I been using it for a couple of years. And since I don't have Tiger and it's Dashboard, this program is pretty useful. MacLorem (http://www.fika.org/davew/judebear/MacLorem/. It has many different features. Enjoy!
I'll second MacLorem. I've
I'll second MacLorem. I've had it for probably 5 years, and it's nice to be able to generate filler text in different "languages."
Another one for Dolor Sit
Another one for Dolor Sit Amet. It's just so tiny and pretty!
InDesign has this built-in
I was using MacLorem for this until I realized one day that InDesign has this built-in. All you have to do is Command-click on a text box and select "Fill with Placeholder text." This isn't the coolest way to get placeholder text and it doesn't have any options, but it is definitely the quickest, assuming you are working in InDesign. Hey, I just joined Creative Bits today and I love it....so much great information...thanks Ivan and everyone else who contributes! I found out about it in Layers magazine...the coolest magazine available
