Undo sending an email

undosend

If you use GMail or Google Apps email system you can take advantage of a new feature called "Undo Send" available under Settings / Labs.

If enabled, you can stop messages from being sent for 5 seconds after hitting the send button.

That's awesome - but only a 5 second window? I wish there was a "send slower" option or something for those messages we don't have to send right away (hmm.. pretty much.. 95% of them) to allow us to double check ourselves. I hate having to send follow up messages, but never notice errors until AFTER I've sent pretty much everytime.

This feature is completely useless with only a 5-second window of opportunity.

Many a time I have wished to have some sort of email buffer. Often I type too fast and get a bit careless or even worse is when I receive an email that provokes an emotional response. This often ends in me feeling very regretful and having to write apology emails. I think a 10 min buffer/cooling off period would be brilliant.
If i was clever I would set up a site that does this... but alas I do not have the necessary skills. Good luck to those who do.

Ideally the time should be set by the user. Everyone is different.

Now we have to wait untill it's incorporated in the next update of Apple Mail?

Or wait for a plugin.

Or, you could try typing the email, allow it to simmer, go back and re-read it, and then hit the send button....

But I think it's gotta be a short period of time because the message is essentially not sent until after 5 seconds. Lets say the buffer was 30 minutes. If the person you sent the email to was online they could read the email within a few minutes and there would be no point of un-sending it.

I think during the 5 seconds the email is not actually sent yet. It's queuing for sending. So if you were to increase this time to let's say 10 minutes, the email will actually delay for 10 minutes.

How about two send buttons - Urgent and Standard mail? Built into your Mail software.

5 seconds it is very short period of time. Is it possible to pro-long this period? Maybe someone knows how to made this trick?

Do not evil.
