People need to stand back and look at their work. There have been projects where I'll juxtapose images that look good together ... take a break & then later I'll come back to the job and see something obvious that wasn't noticed before.
This one made me laugh as much as the wood worm illustration!
The greatest "tongue" illustration of all time is the Rolling Stone's logo. Also the band Gentle Giant had a great cover design for an album "acquiring the taste" ... these are both recommended to study to refine this "Tongue Typer" logo.
I like the overall concept of the logo, I agree with nato that it maybe more visible if the tongue was coming from the bottom. I also dont think the logo needs the web 2.0 gradiant styling you have applied to it. Try just flat colors. Also try adjusting the type and/or type face it feels very distant from the logo. I noticed that you have the exact # of keys to fit the name in the typewriter, may bring the two together.. or may not complete the idea.
I recently worked on a brochure where I art directed a photo shoot of the CEO of the company sitting in a very modern, stylish overstuffed chair. The guy loved the shot and the project moved forward. About a week later he calls to tell me one of his buddies commented that he looked like he was sitting on a toilet. Well of course it didn't (who would have even seen the pose that way??) ... but he couldn't get that image out of his mind and we scrapped the photo. Oh well, it happens. :O
I like the idea. The font
I like the idea. The font doesn't match the glossy style however.
The tongue would look more
The tongue would look more like one if it were coming out of the bottom of the typewriter.

Powerpoint is not a design application
no offense ...
but it looks a bit phallic ... or did something get lost in translation?
:b
I think you should take an objective view of this before showing your client, it could be rather awkward.
I guess my idea of a tongue
I guess my idea of a tongue coming out of the typewriter's mouth/slot isn't a very good one. :)

an objective point of view on your own work

Just some ideas for ya during your process...

What if the 'tongue' looked
What if the 'tongue' looked more like a rippled piece of paper on the typewriter?

Yeah - drop the glossy look
and I also agree the type does not match. Could the name be on the keys of the type writer? Probably too small for that...
Thank you for all the great
Thank you for all the great comments!
Since garyW mentioned the "phallic" look, that's all I see when i look at it.
Here's a quick re-vamp of the logo. Better?
lol!
Better me than the client.

Why are all CEO's neurotic
Why are all CEO's neurotic like this??

Much better! The font still
Much better! The font still doesn't fit. It's too rough.

Final Version?
The phallic comparisions to the old logo were to much, so I went a different route with the logo. The client really likes this. Comments?
