Transparent Background for Logos to be used in Office Programs
betzi (22 pencils) | Mon, 2007-07-30 02:29Hi everyone! I have a logo which was created in Photoshop with small type (I know!). I need it to work in Microsoft Office programs without the white background that jpgs/eps etc leave and a clipping path won't cut it for this logo... see attached file.
Can someone please advise a way to get this logo into office without the white background. Thanks heaps

Use the default setting with transparency effect on. . .

Make sure you don't have a background behind your logo. Gif is limited to 255 colours and a 1-bit alpha channel. PNG is 24-bit colour with an 8-bit alpha channel.
The png works a treat :)
PNG is really the best Web/office app format for this sort of thing. It's a shame that PNG hasn't taken off, replacing GIF and even JPG as the "standard." The myth that PNG isn't supported in IE for Windows is probably what kept it down, but that problem was fixed years ago.

Interesting. I figured PNG wasn't supported, that's why I didn't suggest it.
Good to know!
incredibly powerful
incredibly under-rated
it compresses nicer then JPG
it has transparency that puts GIF to shame
and yes, it's slow take off was due to all the misconceptions and rumors.
