Trommeportalen.no b/w-sketch #2
Anders (413 pencils) | Mon, 2009-10-26 20:53Hello,
This is my second approach on the logo for this Norwegian drummer's forum.
Tell me what you think, be harsh, and tell me which one works the best (if any of 'em).
The first sketch (and additional information) can be found in the previous thead.

Speech bubble, how unique!
Considering it's for a forum about drumming, i think it's quite appropriate, if not cliched.

Again, I thank you for your feedback. Very much appreaciated.
I don't think it's that bad, actually. When I first saw it, without reading the accompanying post, I assumed it was some kind of communication service for drummers, and that's exactly what it is.
Your typesetting is good. Maybe you need to come up with a few alternative icons and take it from there.
That company name is ridiculous - I don't envy you on that one.
What bands are from Norway? Golden Earring? Or are they Dutch? I always get those two confused...

I Like. I drum (but don't speak/read Norwegian) and the icon is relevant & recogniseable yet still kind-of-odd-enough to pique interest. Have you considered evolving the speech bubble into more of a bass drum shape? Just a thought. Here is some drumsterbation inspiration to get in the mood... insanity from about the 5.00 minute mark... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2zGA8BDauQ

Ah, Danny Carrey, my favourite drummer!
Cesar's not too bad either. The solo starts at about 4 minutes or so...

They're Dutch - not Norwegian.
Whew. I'm speechless. I need a shower after all that cheese. How about his eyeballing of the camera!

Well it sounds like you need a little cheese to go with the whine. Shall I cut you some more?
You need to make the TP thicker, they are looking really weired sat in the speech bubble, and as previously said lose the cow bell, it looks like a headlight from a truck.
A cymbal and cow bell are not the first thing i think of when i think of drumming, if you have die hard drumming fans talking about drumming on a drumming forum you need to get more of an association with drumming.
Think i drummed that in enough ! 'dum dum tisch'
I think you need to show more passion with the logo, the people visiting the site are going to be real passionate and i think you need a logo that shows that.
Do you drum yourself? if not you NEED to talk to someone that does, i know this will help.
16 billion colours and you choose the one i cant create !??!
I am an active drummer myself, yes, and I'm quite passionate about the site aswell, as I'm the 4th most active member there (of the 1000+ registered members).
Thanks for the feedback!
But what do you guys say: I showed these sketches to my client, and he liked them alot. Is this the time for a total reboot, or should I rather try to enhance this one, based one comments I've received?
Go with the client, if he is happy then stick with it, if you change it all now it will just confuse him.
But thats just my view.

Good job!
Don't like the bubble shape. It could be more stable, grounded, with a tinny triangule, not so big as actual.
This would make more refined logo. It's a rough yet to me.
yes I'm brazilian xD
i agree with the comments that the bubble should be less oval shaped and more rounded like a kick.
Noted, thanks.
try another font... looks too serious for a drummer blog

Thanks for feedback, all. Will probably be another version up by tomorrow.
@ Artqlated: My client really prefers that font, although I could try convince him otherwise.
