Trouble with Indesign Numbering
NewspaperGirl (5 points) | Wed, 2010-03-24 16:33A couple weeks ago, while I was away, my Indesign document that I always use for the newspaper got messed up. I am able to change the page numbers that appear at the top of each page in my document, however, the numbers that appear on the bottom left, stating which page of my document I'm on, are no longer coinciding with my page number. HELP! This is such a pain when a Sales rep wants me to print out page 21 but it's not 21, it's actually 11. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing while you were away, someone changed your preference.
If i'm right, this should be easy fix, check your Indy's Preference > General > pick either Section or Absolute numbering... my guess is someone switched it from section to absolute numbering.
You can add a current page number marker to your pages to specify where a page number sits on a page and how it will look. Because a page number marker updates automatically, the page number it displays is always correct—even as you add, remove, or rearrange pages in the document. Page number markers can be formatted and styled as text.

I want to start my page numbering on page 2 of my document, but when I do that it inserts a page between the first and second page and numbers it page 1. If I start my numbering at 3 it works fine. It doesn't allow me to use an even number without adding that page. This is very frustrating.
