Two more concepts...
krisM (86 points) | Sat, 2008-07-26 10:22Greetings everyone,
Here's two more concepts. I think I'm getting closer. Thanks :)
A logo for a machining/component design company. Client wants new identity to reflect their modern, well organized, uncluttered business. When asked 'if your business was an animal what would it be?' the client said a rabbit.

I like the rabbit cog symbol. You need to work on how to combine the logo symbol and the logo type together better.
Btw, you don't have to take that answer about the rabbit literally. :) It just tells you it's a dynamic, fast and alert company, like a rabbit. Still I think the symbol is memorable and cool.
Thanks Ivan,
I've been struggling with this project for a while. I think the rabbit-cog symbol is the first idea I've had with it that's got a shot at being both memorable and distinct; not to mention cool.
I'm troubled though, that it might be looking like Looney Toons safety scissors...Am I being over analytical or does anyone else see that to?
Bunny ears belong on TVs with crap reception, Hugh's girls, or Buggs.
I hear you about it being a memorable and unique logo, but you better have a backup for this one along the lines that Ivan had mentioned...energy, alertness, speed and so forth...just in case someone in the room during the presentation pipes up about the literal reaction to their comments. You can pull this rabbit out of your hat and say, "Oh, you mean a logo such as this? One that reflects the charisma of your company?"
"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible."
— Frank Zappa
"Art -- the one achievement of Man which has made the long trip up from all fours seem well advised." - James Thurber
I like both... each just need something to make the design more unified.
I agree the top logo symbol and type isn't cohesive enough, but definitely a memorable symbol. On the second one, I like what's going on with the S. Maybe just tighten the tracking of "Design" a little so the N in Design optically lines up with the edge of the S in A&S.
