Ugly Logos
thornysarus (926 pencils) | Tue, 2005-05-03 18:48For years, we've been developing fleet and fuel cards for the trucking/transportation industry through a local corporation that sells these financial services.
The typical job (simplified):
• The customer sends us logos, art, sketches, whatever they have.
• We take that and design 8 cards from a template we developed.
• The customer picks one and we produce the final for press.
All that to say; Is it just me, or does the trucking industry go out of their way to develop the ugliest logos on the planet?
I mean, I just received another job and their "logo" (in quotes for a reason) is three letters (initials) in Times New Roman Bold! Just gross.
Ok. Thus concludes Terry's Rant-O-The-Day.
I do feel better now.

Some industries tend not to be very image conscious. In our part of the world retail shops and groceries literally have no identities. They just paint their signs with anything. AH!
All their employees wear ripped sleeveless shirts and all of them are called "Bubba" and all of them spend the day yakking on CB. And if someone gives them $100 they will take an extra long lunch break on purpose, while the shipment is leeched off. And you thought their logo was bad. :-D
You have hit the nail on the head Terry...
..but it is getting better, folks in these industries, especially the air freight world are becoming more savay to identity which seems to be intergrating through the industry.
p.s. I think it will be a few years though before times roman bold gets the heave ho though, that I can be assured of! Then again by this time it will probably find its niche again and become original, and we will be back to square one again!!!
