Not being a designer or artist, I make no judgments as to it's quality.
Considering digital photography, I've found it similar to my computer experience...about equal parts of fascination and frustration.
From my Georgia OKeefe period. Actually, just seeing if I can post a picture.
That's really full of color dr john! feels like ice cream :)
(you need to log-on, actually i think i'll switch off the feature for guests to post, because so far it only created confusion for our members.)
Well I can post a picture but apparently wasn't logged in with this browser.

That's some great photography! Real interesting how the human brain/body can adapt to so many environments.

One of my favorite photographers involved it that type of work is Sebastião Salgado.
He's made some stunning photographs of people living under the most abject conditions. http://www.terra.com.br/sebastiaosalgado/
this one is quite dramatic too, latin american photography: http://www.photoarts.com/gallery/photographing-identity/chong1.html
Dr John I hadn't been to your site for a while. I forgot how good your work is. Thanks.
The photographer Dr. John mentioned above, Sebastião Salgado, is a member of World Affairs Council. The organization is featuring his work in an exhibit, Photographer as Activist, at UC Berkeley in California, USA. If any of you are in the area and interested in checking out his work, here is the website link: http://www.itsyourworld.org/program.php?page=1051
good for you guys! you've got culture and exhibitons. we've got nothing here.

the sky is lovely GregMoore. is that the UV filter or the reality?
that's a typical vancouver sky..
the UV filter wouldnt have effected this shot too much at all

what's the UV filter for? from what i know it's for reducing glare, but does it really affect the colors too?
Technically the human eye can't see UV... but film and your CCD on a digital camera can.
The UV band carries alot of atmospheric "scatter". Scattered UV light can cloud distant backgrounds and impart an unwelcome bluish cast in images. UV contamination tends to be most problematic at very high altitudes and over long stretches of water.

I've always thought of UV filters as a waste of money other
than protecting the lens. With Photoshop ya can pretty much fix any color
balance and tints anyway...

This is really cool aurora borealis, better known as northern lights photography. The Coke polar bears would love this show: http://braingiants.com/noriomatsumoto/gallery.html
