Unisource logo
mansi (11 points) | Thu, 2007-06-21 09:14Unisource Group is the Global Procurement hub and Strategic Affiliate for one of America’s fastest retail chain. The company is responsible for procuring all merchandise for the retail giant. It is responsible for Supply Chain Activities like Design, Product Development, Sourcing & Merchandising, Quality Assurance and Logistics.
The Unisource logo is perceived as the globe and implies the merging of two specialists… the front-end retailer and the back-end solutions provider. It can even imply that 'we churn out the best from the globe'. The blue colour indicates the corporate side of the company, while red stands for youthfullness.

i will be alittle bit picky (as usual, please forgive me :)) ), and ask - is there any reason why blue circle overlaps red? and why you have decided, that red represents youthfulness? it is always has been mature and passion color :), i personally associate light blue with youthfulness, but it is just my personal opinion. Also this logo reminds me about ying&yang, which is absolutely differnet story...
but overall this is not too bad.
thanks for your comments. i appreciate it. actually the blue here is looking too bright, whereas its a duller and a little darker blue. In comparison to the blue, the red looks bright, hence the youthfullness. and i agree with you on the ying and yang thing, 'cause i had thought about it also. thanks!
I'm really not a fan of blue/red logos. They fight against each other and create a vibration where they hit. Honestly, the logo messes with my eyes. I definitely think some different colors would be in order here.
life is great; without it, you'd be dead.
the logo is great. the colors of the logo. ouch. were those chosen by the client?
id love to see it in grey scale, or maybe like the bp logo, with slight tints of the same color.
hey, its that guy, on the internet.
I read your description and definitely see 'two specialist merging'. Actually, it sort of looks like an overhead shot of two people with their arm wrapped around each other while kissing. [Can't get much more together than that]
A little space between the circles [heads] should do the trick and be more like two friends greeting.
The typeface for 'Unisource' is incredibly uninspiring and needs some additional thought and work.
Colors have a certain 'fire' and 'ice' feel and remind me a bit of the Pepsi logo. That isn't necessarily bad and can build a sense of familiarity with the company. [The 'I've seen that before but I don't know where' feeling]
Have you tried making the blue circle a little bit larger to create a sense of depth? I don't know if that will throw off the balance but you could experiment. I don't think the red is reading as youthful; it's too traditional of a color. You might also experiment with placement/size of the mark in relation to the text.
