I don't even know where to start with this. I don't like the colored squares, I hate the logos with the white around them. The pictures on the cover don't tell me anything about an alumni? The font doesn't look like it's geared towards a professional.

Sorry I'm not much help.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this was inspired by ColdPlay's album cover for "X & Y" It's a bit busy I think you can tone down the amount of elements and you might want to rethink the colors since this looks very very similar to the album cover.

brand guidelines!

All those logos that have white bits on them look like you've just pulled them of a website, I'm going to guess that's what you've done.
This is going to cause major problems in that they won't be print res, they're most probably supposed to be printed on a white background and each logo will have it's own set of brand guidelines stating what colour it can be used against, required exclusion areas etc.

Be VERY careful with putting company logos on official stationary like this without following the rules to the letter.

I get why you've used the stripe effect on the folder as it's clearly part of their online branding, but why over the whole folder? it's way too overpowering and would appear much better as a stripe, or not used at all as that sort of gradient effect is merely a fake texture, you'd be better to emboss the paper to get the same effect.

The individual elements of the design could work, but there's too much there. Take some away, take as much as you can away from it without losing the concept.

Way too busy, simplify. I do like the way you have cropped the photos, but that's about it at the moment sorry.

After visiting the university's Web site, I think your concept is probably not going to be well-received by its administrators, nor by alumni. Are you trying to "jazz up" the school's rather traditional image? If so, perhaps you could find more subtle ways of introducing that idea. I think that could be very refreshing, but it must be done with a magic wand, not a battering ram.
