Unleash my inner Web Design Goddess
icklebutt (50 pencils) | Mon, 2006-09-11 15:12hi all. I need a few pointers. I am a print graphic designer by trade and the company I work for has given me a few bucks to spend at amazon.com
I'm looking to find a easy to understand book about HTML/CSS to work on my skill sets as a web designer. I've done some research on my own, but I'm eager to know any pointers on which books are particularly helpful and which were not.
I have no previous knowledge of web design. I'm a Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign girl. I know that there are some web gallery features within photoshop, but I really want to create a page with compliant web standards based code.
Any feedback would be helpful.

I bought CSS Mastery, it's well written and easy to understand if you don't know much about css and want to learn the right way to code.
I recommend reading through A List Apart to get familiar with web standards.
Hope this helps!
Cheers!

you should also look into video tutorials from
lynda.com
they have css and css2 for
designers and also html basics and workflow using popular programs from adobe and macromedia.

Its one of those sites I dont like to tell people about, as its one of those places you can use to get ahead pretty darn quickly.
For people new to Lynda.com I'll let you in on something, Lynda.com have a superb Video Podcast. Search for it on iTunes and you'll get a great new distraction every couple or so days. They give a couple of videos free per podcast episode. Definatly worth checking out.
I've got a subscription there, thinking about going premium - so far its totally worth the money, the videos are great and the presenters dont have boring voices unlike another online video learning site I used to subscribe to.
