Upgrading RAM & MEMORY for my MacBook Pro
shele.bele (71 points) | Mon, 2009-03-02 18:06I really would like to up the speed of my MacBook Pro. It's got a 2GB ram & almost 200GB of memory.
I've been Googling and see where I can boost the RAM to 4GB. Is that the maximum amount of RAM I can install?
What is the maximum amount of memory I can install?
How much would these parts run me?
Thanks in advance for all advice!!

Depends on your model of MBP. You can surely put 4GB as 2+2.
Sorry, but you don't seem to know anything about computers, and you should therefore have any such upgrades done by someone who does know what they're talking about and does know what they are doing.
Your computer has 2gb of memory...
...Which, combined with processor details, is used for processing
Your computer has a 200gb hard drive [though, that must be amount of storage space left - since MacBook Pros come with 250gb or 320 gb hard drives]...
...Which is storage for files.
A computer with 200gb of memory is a computer that would not be available to a consumer - if such a computer even exists.
Sorry, but people who buy expensive things and don't seem to know anything about them are the people who screw things up and then run around asking for help - and invariably do not pay attention to what they are told.
Weird. Haha.
RAM = Random Access MEMORY. The 200GB is your HDD.

i'll second the crucial.com recommendation.
Hey Synnestro, I didn't claim to know much about computers, which is why I ASKED before I did anything. Your sarcasm was not needed.
They did come with these... don't be so hard on someone who wants to learn.
I say go for it, but be careful. Ground out, take it apart slow, watch where and how things are placed... and be willing to buy new parts if you screw it up.
My MBP has a 200GB Hitachi.... bought it in December 2007.
