User Interface Research & Development (Masters Program)
Gody (58 points) | Wed, 2005-09-28 16:59I am thinking of going to grad school for User Interface Research and Development. I was wondering if any of you fine people in the US preferably might have any suggestions on prestigious schools that are well-known in this field. It would be great if any of you can even point me in the right direction as to where I can look for good grad schools in this special field. I am preferably looking for a school that has connections with the real world and can not only educate me but also connect me with the real world while I am in school. I want to take the graphic and psychological approach and not the programming approach.
Any help, suggestions and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks people.

The University of Washington in Seattle has one of the very best CS schools in the country, it is often compared to ivy league programs and schools like MIT.
I don't know much about its grad programs, but you should definitely check it out. It happens to be in one of the world's IT hubs, and across a medium sized lake (that has 2 bridges) from MS. If you're not into working for MS or interning, it still means there a butt load of IT/design/development going on in this neck of the wooods. Plenty of companies around for internships like Amazon, RealNetworks, Drugstore.com, Boeing...the list goes on.

Thanks a lot for the info Jeff. I really appreciate it. I will definitely look into their program. I am not really specifically looking for Grad programs but it would be nice to get a Graduate Degree instead of another undergrad one. I will let you know what I find. Again thanks for the reply
If you know of any others or if you know where I can find collective information of schools that offer this specifically, let me know so I can weigh my options.
Another reason that I am looking for a Grad program is to find a school that will pay my way through it or even a company that they have ties with that will pay for students and are willing to make agreements and contracts to work for them after graduating. Hope that makes sense. Just letting you know some of the stuff that I was looking for.
I will talk to you soon. Thanks again for your time and info.
