Valcomm Logo and tag-line rules??

Hi all,
This is a logo I just did for a client and I am now going to start on his website. In short, they make paging services for hospitals and government agencies. Most likely going to use the one on the bottom, with just black and blue. I wanted to see what you thought of it, and also what your thought are on tag-lines. This business has long tag-line and when I make he logo small enough to use on the site, the tag-line will get lost. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on tag-lines with logos, when to use them when not to use them and if there are really any hard-fast rules for them.
Thanks!
Best,
Jay

taglines
I don't mind tag lines too much, but your design must also be able to stand alone as when it gets small the tagline's going to have to come off.
I'm not a fan of that typeface really but there seems to be an issue with the spacing the "C" and "O". They look like they have more space around them. I think you need to look at the spacing between all the letters.
Hope it goes well.

Kerning
You'll definitely want to adjust the kerning between the letters. Also I would check how the blue signal lines are centered behind the V. If you drop the tagline, then it might be unbalanced. Also I don't think those lines are going to hold up very well at small sizes.
I don't like the logotype
I don't like the logotype and the symbol is very generic too. The tagline is descriptive, which is probably good in this business sector, but I find it lacks life. Just think of "Volvo. — For life" or "Nike. — Just do it". Those are fun taglines.
I recommend to start over if you still can. But, of course if client likes it don't change at this point.
Thanks for all the input
Thanks guys! I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately, the client wants the logo, letterhead and site right away, so I didn't have a lot of time to put into it. It figures, they ended up choosing my last favorite font! But they're very happy so that's really what matters. :)
Thanks again!
Jay

Business Cards
I know that this is totally random, but I work for a print shop in Knoxville, TN and Valcomm is opening an office here and they need business cards. The woman starting the office know nothing about graphics and she thought I could get a logo for them off of their website. Anyway I explained to her that and EPS would be best and she said that they couldn't get a hold of you I guess and I was wondering if it would be possible for you to send me that file?!?
