it's so, so simple... forget the bullet prof glass altogether as not every pope vehicle has bullet proof glass, specially the 'Sedia Gestatoria'!

(...it is well known the famous bullet proof popemobile with the registration plate - "Vatican City State", that travels with him around the world, see Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.
One of these recently traveled to the White House in Washington, D.C.)
and when you see one of these vehicles in front of you, it's quite obvious... you don't need bullets ricocheting off the glass to grasp it!!!!!
(not to mention - where would you find an image of the pope seating on a scooter? specially the one pictured here, as he's dead!)

Anyway, on the original shot, the pope was actually blessing someone on his/her forehead... note the position of his fingers (now on the scooter).

For Christians, the "Small Sign of the Cross" motion, in which a small cross is traced with the thumb over the forehead, symbolizes the Cross on Calvary. And also is commonly used when blessing oneself with holy water when leaving or entering a church, symbolizing the Trinity (the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit/Ghost,

That explained, my students came up with a similar idea, but the headline was:
"A Holy Ride"

They said to me, "it is too obvious the pope is blessing another iconic Italian scooter".

I can see where you're going with the bullet proof glass added onto Vespa's scooter, but it's a bit of a stretch to grasp immediately.

Plus the layout and text treatment need work. IF you want to go with the bullet-proof glass concept make it more obvious...straddle that pope in the driver's seat, have him flying down the highway while bullets ricochet off the glass...whoo hoo!!!!!
