Can you say... typo? I wonder if there is a way you could illustrate this concept without any text, and using an icon that symbolizes war instead. The "War & Family" slows this piece down.

There is an idea in there. Is this supposed to be a family tree? By the way, there is usually no problem of finding a male mate during a war for lonely women unfortunately, but that's another concept.
More importantly, is there a need to convince people that WAR IS BAD? Don't they know it? And, if so, who are they? Fundamentalists, necons — do you think this kind of soft communication will do anything to them?
I'd have to agree with Ivan here.
For example, I think "war is bad" but couldn't I do a poster that says "terror and family" and just have a family, a mushroom could and then nothing? Or taking the russian school as an example just leave the parents behind??? Also, for a US audience many would consider it a great sacrifice. In the US men CHOOSE to join the Army with full knowledge that they may die. Therefore.... lots of people wouldn't have too much sympathy because "they knew what they were getting into". If you ask a US Army Recruiter if you'll be sent to Iraq if you "sign up" then he'll say "Most likely" I don't know... nice idea but I don't think it'd have the desired effect. Wouldn't change any minds.

War usually takes the parents first; not the children.
