Washington Symphony Orchestra Poster Design

They were look for a look that would the reflect the style in which Brahms Symphony No. 1 was composed - Something that was Strong, Stable, and Cohesive between all of it's components. With a hint of progress chaos .

This aint cohesive - I can tell you that right off the bat. I see the idea here - but the execution is lacking. The cello-thing art looks like half a good idea. I would rather see an outline of a real musical instrument - but that's jmho. If you're going to do something jumbled like this - it needs more work - I can't tell what's going on with the thing on the bottom right side. Also the orchestra's name should be more prominent if the show is all about them (and not a charity event or something).
As always... jmho.
agree with Art.
you could add more value for their name using a better position.
there is typography chaos that could be avoided.
the central element is dull compared with left bottom circles and font.
yes I'm brazilian xD
i like the neville-brody-ish thing youre going for. but i have to agree with art and qwerty that there is just too much haphazardness going on. its a good start of an idea. but needs a lot more tweaking to make it work.
There is to much distance from top (bass, flue, oboe) and down infos (violin I, viola etc). It doesn't look like you are continuing the same info.
The word Brahms doesn't look "Something that was Strong, Stable, and Cohesive between all of it's components." . It actually looks chaotic.
(Almost) nice work.
Yep to above non-cohesive design summarization.
If you're going to play off the strings then make the selected instrument fat, front and center...boldly fill up that space with the instrument...then deal with the hierarchy of text. My eye doesn't know where to jump first. Plus, the name's disjointedness makes me uncomfortable.
And what's with the woodwind pads in the bottom left? They're floating with neither rhyme nor reason...if you did want them in there I would have used them in '2008'....or something along those lines.
