Web/Graphic designer needed in Cayman Islands
bigsadhu (32 pencils) | Fri, 2005-11-18 05:09Hi everyone. First post for a long-time lurker.
Not sure if this is an appropriate forum for this, but we're looking for another designer to join our small team here in the Cayman Islands.
The company currently consists of just the 3 of us, Sherry the account manager, Bob the CD and me the designer. We're growing fast, and rapidly approaching the point where there's just too much for me to handle alone. It doesn't help that I'm an old-skool print designer who's a bit of a retard when it comes to web design.
In my estimation (as an employee) the company seems to be in a fairly solid position, business-wise. It's a very pleasant and generally laid-back work environment, and of course life on a Caribbean island has its own benefits (a few negatives too, however). Be warned, earning tax-free dollars is addictive!
Basically what we're looking for is someone who can take on the growing number of Web design projects we're picking up, who is also capable when it comes to print. I'd say a middleweight designer with 3+ years experience would fit the ticket.
If anyone is interested or has any questions, post here or drop me an email on artccg(at)buggeroffspammerscandw.ky. Take out buggeroffspammers obviously.

Thank you for posting this opportunity for our members! Hope you will find a fine applicant for your team. Let us know...
Hi there
I have 8 years of experience across the design industry. I am a creative, efficient and customer focused designer. I have a real eye for detail, and most importantly I really love my job. I have enjoyed a diverse career so far, including working in house, for design agencies, printers and most recently freelance work in the UK, Turkey and Spain.
I have emailed you my CV and portfolio for your reference. I am based in the UK at the moment, but I will be more than happy to relocate for the right opportunity. I have been doing some research on the Cayman Islands, I believe that it's really easy for me to get a visa. Also, I would be very grateful for the opportunity to use my design skills somewhere a little warmer than the UK. :0)
If you do feel that I would be suitable, I can be contacted on +44 7906 257146 Or perhaps you could let me know a time when it would be convenient and we could talk about the job on MSN messenger eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%68%6f%6c%69%64%61%79%5f%6d%6f%75%73%65%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%68%6f%6c%69%64%61%79%5f%6d%6f%75%73%65%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))
all the best Hayley

I don't fit the profile since I am just something less than a beginner, but I was wondering how much are you talking about, because I have frineds that might be interested.
--designer wannabe--
you're asking how much does the job pay?
Well, I'm not sure. That will depend on the applicant I guess. What I can say is that the payscale for designers here is fairly similar to that in the US, with the big difference that you pay NO income tax. Living expenses do tend to be a bit higher here though, which somewhat offsets that advantage.
If I had to guess, I'd say the starting wage would most likely not be below US$2000 a month, and quite possibly more. Again, this would very much depend on the applicant.
Ivan, how are the Bahrainians taking the football result? My girlfriend is Trinidadian, so we were watching the game avidly!
C
They said it was unfair. I don't know the rules of soccer that much, but it seems like a goal to me. Bahrainis want a rematch, but slim chance for that.
The team got rewarded very well anyway. They got a house each and plenty of cash too.
for suggesting that maybe it WAS a legal goal. Sheesh!
Turns out FIFA has agreed with the ref though. C'est la Vie. Definitely seems like I'm in the wrong line of work. A house for kicking a little ball around ????
I wrote you an email, did you get it?
Hey, are you still recruiting for a designer? I am really keen on the role. I have emailed you and also posted here - please let me know.
All the best Hayley

For some reason your email never arrived.
Please send it again, eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%61%72%74%63%63%67%40%62%75%67%67%65%72%6f%66%66%73%70%61%6d%6d%65%72%73%63%61%6e%64%77%2e%6b%79%22%3e%61%72%74%63%63%67%40%62%75%67%67%65%72%6f%66%66%73%70%61%6d%6d%65%72%73%63%61%6e%64%77%2e%6b%79%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) -- and don't forget to take out the phrase "buggeroffspammers".
Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest. I am passing the portfolios I recieve onto my employers, and will update you as soon as I get word from them. It might take a little while since we're operating on "Island Time" here :-)

My employers have decided on an applicant who they feel will fill the position to their satisfaction.
I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to send in their resumés and portfolios. There were some extremely impressive applications, and I wish we could have offered jobs to you all. :o)
Ivan, the response to this ad was excellent! That's the benefit of a targeted demographic I guess. I'd recommend anyone looking to hire to list their vacancy here first.
Ripper!
C
That is great news. Thanks for letting me know.
Congratulations on filling the position..
I had to look for the Cayman Islands on the net, I never knew its geographical location, and for that I thank you :)

Dylan6 is spam. This ad is probably spam too since it looks very familiar. I am suspicious.
