Webdesign critique
theneemies (14 pencils) | Thu, 2008-10-16 23:05I tried my hand at designing the website for my web development firm. Looking for some feedback from the pros - mostly as to whether I should foot the bill for a pro and disabuse myself of the idea that I, too, possess aesthetic sensibilities ;)
The site is aimed SMEs, and intended to convey professionalism and subject matter expertise.
The design has already been applied to the site.

Love that this site (creativebits.org) uses Drupal :)
It seems very clean to me, but almost too clean (ie no contrast). I think a bit more color variation would help to delineate the different sections. Other than that, I like it.
agreed. too clean. it needs more deliniation between elements.
I would increase the size of Neem Tree and move the "About Us" up nearer the top.
To break up the white a bit, you could try reversing the text and arrows at the base from a solid block of the dark green; with the majority of it being white and the arrows and callout/bolded text displayed in a pumpkiny squashy orange.

All the feedback is really appreciated. I'll play with two alternatives (1) the background changes as suggested by 3dogmama and maybe (2) font color changes to see which works.
UPDATE - reworked designs up for review at http://creativebits.org/second_round
It looks like a resume...for a banker or lawyer.
