Clear the way for the google bot

Help the Google bot to find all the updated pages on your site. Let it crawl more frequently. Try adding your site to Google sitemaps.
Google Sitemaps is an experiment in web crawling. Using Sitemaps to inform and direct our crawlers, we hope to expand our coverage of the web and improve the time to inclusion in our index. By placing a Sitemap-formatted file on your webserver, you enable our crawlers to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed, and to crawl your site accordingly.
If you don't know how to use Google's tools to make a sitemap-formatted file, you can just point your newsfeed to it, since it can parse RSS. Nice touch of this service is that you can track when the bot has visited your site.

That refers to Google Services, such as Search, it doesn't apply to Sitemaps. So for example you can't create a page called photographers in Saudi and run an automated search query on Google and display the results as if it was a static page and put an ad on top of it.
Bottom line: Does utilizing sitemap increase ranking. I know the official word from Google is no, but it would be interesting to hear any who have experimented on Google rankings with this. By the way GOOG hit 300 today. I guess we all should have bought at 100.
Directly it doesn't, but indirectly it does.
Imagine if you have a news site, and you publish the same topic as other news sites, but ppl find your site much more oftern because Google crawls and indexes it more frequently than other news sites. You would get more hits through Google, which would register at Google as relevant result for a particular search. This will raise your site's ranking. Also, more visitors mean potentially more ppl linking to your news item, which directly raises your Google ranking.
It's not enought to have good content, ppl need to find it and consume it. make All this in the shortest amount of time, because news are a product like dairy, they go bad quickly. You can write the best Episode III review ever next month and it will still create much less traffic than the first few lousy ones that came out just after the release of the movie.
I heard of this feature a few days ago but I didn't submit my pages - now that I know they support rss, I left my URL there ;-)
