We've have some great news today!
Sites I started, Creativebits.org and AdsoftheWorld.com have been acquired by Jupitermedia Corporation. The two sites have a combined traffic of more than 1 million unique visitors per month and now, they will become part of Jupitermedia's Graphics.com network. One of the many sites you're probably using daily that are part of Jupitermedia are the stock exchange sites: sxc.hu and stockxpert.com.
What does this mean for you? I will have more time to work on creativebits and Ads of the World, which should mean more and better content. It will also be able to develop the sites further to offer you more features.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for making this community a vibrant and active place that we all enjoy day in and day out to learn more about our beloved profession and to socialize with people who share our interest.

Congratulations Ivan.
I hope the deal was as interesting for you as it was for JupiterMedia.
Well deserved!
I'm so happy for you, Ivan. I know how much this site has meant to you over the years. The times where it was just too much for your, you pressed on anyway.
Well deserved!

I am glad for you
Way to go, Ivan. I am sure all the hard work and effort paid off. Congrats on the transition and hope it went smoothly for both you and Jupitermedia Corp. Good luck to you down the road and hope things get even better and interesting for you.

CONGRATULATIONS!
It is a very good news.
Too bad another indie site sells out.
I’m sorry that you felt compelled to cave in and sell your soul to another monolithic media company, like Jupiter. Cash your cheques, enjoy your new lifestyle. Me? I’m off to find another source of creative information. See ya.
Dude... I don't think we're
Dude... I don't think we're seeing here another Google-YouTube deal.
"Enjoy your new lifestyle"?! Yeah, Ivan share with us those 100 million dollars!
And if you haven't noticed the site didn't changed a bit. The information 'river' is still the same! You are wacko! Or anti-mainstream :)
I understand your concern.
Jupiter is not like those companies you're thinking of. The reason I chose Jupiter because they are known to facilitate further development. I would be sad to see you leave, but of course respect your decision.
It is hard running sites like these
I just like to point out that it is hard to run sites like Create Bits and Ads of the World, while you have another day job. The number of hours you put in is insane, and you can do that for a year or two, but there comes a time when things have to change to sustain the current quality.
Tell me of one independent site that has been running as independent for 5+ years. I don't think they exist. There is a cost to popularity in terms of demand for new content, more infrastructure to pay for, tuning, optimization, promotion, ...etc.
In this case the change was a salary from a company that acquired the site. This will enable Ivan to spend time on the site.
Will it continue forever? I don't know, but I hope so.

Will anything change?
First of all Congrats.
Will this mean we are going to start seeing parts of your site we need to pay to get access to?
Although I am happy for you; I can't stop feeling a bit like splorp. Big companies tend to pressure and imposed their agenda and I am afraid that will be visible in your future posts.
I will still come and visit daily. I owe you the benefit of the doubt.
I will continue running the
I will continue running the site. If anything changes we will make sure it is to your benefit. :)
Congrats, Ivan!
and good luck!
Thank you everybody
You guys are very kind! :)

Well deserved Ivan, good to see you have been recognised!!!
Jupiter is a little dissapointing.
Ivan,
I've enjoyed your blog for a long time Ivan. I have to admit although I am happy your hard work is being recognized but I am a bit dissapointed it is JupiterMedia buying you out.
In many ways Jupiter is like Microsoft, they can't develop their own unique and creative ideas because they know no one will buy into it. So they find successful online venues and just assimilate them into their own collective much like the 'Borg' that is Microsoft. Unfortunately what you get when it's all said and done is less then what you had before and sometimes worse.
No doubt they'll flood the site with an inane amount of ads and other revenue driven aspects all pointing towards one of their borged motherships of stock illustration or photos etc.
I've seen Jupiter ruin two creative businesses over the past few years. One being 'Dynamic Graphics / Liquid Library' and the other being 'Step Inside Design'. Their sites are now flooded with inane ads and look horrible.
Jupiter along with others like them are responsible for lowering the creative bar in our industry. I've seen them go into 'Liquid Library' and create absolutely unrealistic contracts with illustrators. Where as before 'Liquid Library' unlike other businesses paid a fair market value for work. Jupiter feeds off the industry and undercuts young artists too ignorant to realize they are being ripped off.
I also witnessed Jupiter firing art directors and designers replacing them with nothing more then marketing people who have no clue about design or illustration but do know how to buyout work from others and then retain all rights to sell it high.
So I don't hold out too much hope for this blog now. I am sure you'll stay true to your convictions but Jupiter will no doubt ruin what use to be a nice off the path creative interlude.
