what do you see when you see this logo?
gstrat (6 pencils) | Fri, 2009-11-20 04:47I made a logo for me. I'm a designer and I want to start doing designs for myself;branding, business cards, banners, logo design..you know design work. I'm gonna experiment with t-shirts. I want to use this logo the way it is and sometimes just use the "CD" image to the left by itself. I chose blue cuz it means trust, but I wanted a lighter, fresher look. Something urban..modern..clean..professional..recognizable and young. I'm new and I've read some of your comments and ya'll keep it real as hell. I like it cuz of the clean lines so it can be used on different kinds of media and basically look the same everytime. And its simple.

To answer your question I see someone who typed CoolDesign in a certain font and called it a logo.

Well language-technically you don't see the person but the result.
But yeah, can't say this is that "cool"...

I agree with Leaky...
This is hardly a logo. The font is hideous and the color doesn't have enough contrast against the white background. I would also encourage you to think up a better business name. "Cool design" sounds generic, amateurish, and quite corny. I don't think people will take you seriously in the business world with that name.
there is no space so he has created a new word, cooldesign, thats the angle he is going for.

clearly it's an abbreviation because they're all capitals

If you look at the tumbnail, you CANT read it. You need some redesigning! Make it cool, and not fridge cool.
This design violates two important rules:
1. Logotype should be readable. Your design is much too pale to be legible; you'd almost need to give it a black background instead of white to get past that problem, and that is much too limiting.
2. Script and handwritten fonts (or their hand-drawn equivalents) should not usually be set in all caps. There are exceptions, of course, as in something intended to look like a sign hand-lettered in Magic Marker or something like that, but you're not going for that look, and you've chosen to set your type in all caps. That can look amateurish, at best.
Unlike some folks here, I don't see penises everywhere I look, only where I expect to find them, but I have to admit that your "CD" mark is a little odd. I don't think most people would take it for the letters C and D without seeing the words spelled out right next to it. Even then, it's not clear. Could even be a stylized Omega.
Blue (or "true blue," as you might want to say) means "trust" when your lawyer tells you to wear a blue Oxford-cloth shirt with a beige gabardine suit for your trial. (Don't forget the haircut.) But it can also mean cold, as in ice or blah-blue, not as in "cool."
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this leaves me cold. Sorry.

Jesus!! I'll re-design it! My nickname is "Cool" for like the past 20 years. So "cool" design. Anyways..the CD doesn't have to be recognized as a CD...that wasn't the intention. And whats with all the penis talk? If you look at a logo and see a penis...well...moving on....with all that being said, think I'll re-design it some. thanks peoples!!
